Everyone can appreciate the greatness that is Avelino, his lyricism makes him one of the top emcee’s. With the release of multiple singles recently including collaborations Stormzy and Skepta, Avelino has finally announced the release date of No Bullshit. The project is set to be released on 27th October.
As the title suggests, Avelino is getting straight to the point. The twelve track playlist will show us why Avelino is one of the best in the business. He effortlessly finds the perfect balance of melody and rapping.
Since the release of his Iconic Ambition mixtape in 2014, Avelino has since been in the spotlight of the urban music scene. A highlight of his musical success being the nine million views on his collaborative Fire in The Booth with Wretch 32. This was then followed up with the collaborative Young Fire Old Flame EP.
Origami, the first track to be released from the new playlist was released earlier this year. A song which combines both hip-hop and jazz. A combination which may seem confusing, but Avelino got it just right and it’s all vibes.
From the rap playbook pieces such as title track No Bullshit, to streetwise storytelling on It’s A Moovie and the party anthems, 1 In A Million and Sweet Luv which samples garage-pioneer MJ Coles’ Sincere; No Bullshit is abundant with the measured integrity and thoughtful essence that’s captured so many tastemakers’ attentions to date.
The project does not describe an album, nor an EP, but a playlist. The reason for this being that Avelino imagines No Bullshit to be a fluid concept, one which can mature with age and change over time. Not the usual concept on an album.
No Bullshit ends with an empathic statement of intent. A final tune, that elsewhere might be simply called an ‘outro’ but in Avelino’s hands becomes the Outro 2 Da Beginning. This, it would seem, is just the start…
