BT BUFF Awards 2017 – The Winners

The BT BUFF Awards took over the prestigious BT Towers to celebrate the very best and uprising stars in British Urban Cinema. BUFF has taken over the telecom HQ for their diverse film festival. Prior to the festival, they announced that Ashley Walters was this year's honoree. Co-hosted by Kyla Fyre and Sam Benjamin, BUFF officially crowned the winners.

Elijah Baker won the  Best Emerging Male Actor for his epic role in R.M Moses' film 'Signs of Silence'. We couldn't be happier for the resilient actor, who's produced and created his own comedy sketch this year with SBTV. Another big win was the indie film 'The Intent', co-directed by Femi Oyeniran and Kalvadour Petersen. It's Britain's first independent gritty urban film that had 100% homegrown talent; from the soundtrack produced for the film to the actors themselves.

Isis Davis took home two awards for Best Emerging Female Actress and the Best Live Script Recipient for her script 'Draw' alongside 'Joe Pair'  by Adriel Leff and 'Sara White and the Seven Socialites' by Sinitta Monero. 'A United Kingdom' took home two awards, as David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike won Best Actor and the Blessing Anyiam-Osigwe Award for Best Actress. Taking home the Best Short Film was 'Hush' by Alex Campbell (director) and Candice Onyeama (producer).

Performances came from the likes of Kele Le Roc and Ayanna Witter-Johnson. So Solid's First Lady Lisa Maffia presented Ashley his official honoree award for his outstanding 25 years achievement in television.
