BFI have announced a whole season of films that inspired director Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’, which will have a special screening at Southbank on the 13th July.

Added to the director’s films of inspiration include ‘Greed’ (1924), ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ (1920), ‘The Wages of Fear’ (1966), ‘Ryan’s Daughter’ (1970), ‘Chariots of Fire’ (1981) and ‘Speed’ (1994)The season will run throughout the Summer from the 1st – 31st of July.

The award-winning director is popularly known for his work on ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘Inception’  and classics such as ‘Memento’. The director’s career in the film industry is over a course of 15 years. His new film ‘Dunkirk’ stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh and Harry Styles (One Direction)
