FIRST LOOK: ‘Five by Five’ – Georgina Campbell, Michael Ajao, Ben Tavassoli, Ruth Madeley & Sope Disiru

Fresh Writing Talent work with Established Talent for Short Film Series for BBC Three.

Idris Elba follows up on his vow to promote and showcase the next generation of talent by starring alongside these youthful cats in BBC Three’s ‘Five by Five’ in conjunction of his company Green Door Pictures.

Working budding new writers Cat Jones, Lee Coan, Namsi Khan, Selina Kim and Nathaniel Price ‘Five by Five’, will showcase a series of short films directed by Kate Herron. This will be the first time that the fabulous five of writers will work with establish on-screen talent. Georgina Campbell (‘Murdered by My Boyfriend’), Michael Ajao (‘Cuffs’), Ben Tavassoli (‘New Blood’), Ruth Madeley (‘Don’t Take My Baby’) and Sope Disiru (‘Humans’) as well as Flea’s Jasmine Jobson, Peaky Blinders’ Nina Yndis and The Night Manager’s Andrei Zayats are the favourable stars that will continue the success of British arts. Also added in the lineup is Taurean Steele from ‘Knife Edge’.

These five standalone short films will focus on the issues of identity. Idris Elba is the executive producer for Door Green Studios alongside Richard Stokes and Hilary Sammon. Producing credits go to Dean Byfield.

They’ve started with first episode of ‘Ash’ starring Michael Ajao, who had his early start in ‘Attack The Block’ alongside John Boyega. The second episode ‘Chloe’ places Georgina Campbell in the spotlight after winning Best Actress at the British Television Awards in 2015. Ben Tavassoli stars in an one-off in third episode ‘Lucas‘, Ruth Madeley plays a breakthrough role as a girl surviving discrimination from her local dealer ‘Janine’ and Sope Disiru, who stars in ‘Sandcastle’ alongside Nicholas Hoult, closes as a policeman in ‘Michael’.
