Infrastructure –  Aerospace Structural Engineer, Intern (Summer 2016)

Facebook is looking for an intern to assist in aerodynamic design of high-altitude solar powered aircraft. A successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Aerodynamic Specialists and will be required to complete calculations and research associated with the optimisation of the aerodynamic design. This is a 12 week internship position that will be based in Somerset.

Responsibilities

Work closely with all teams and vendors to provide assistance with aerodynamic design of wing form and airframe dynamics.
Assist in technical report development and aerodynamic research
Develop test regimes and procedures for airframe evaluation and optimisation
Assist with development and completion of wind tunnel and aerodynamic testing

Requirements

Pursuing a BSc or BEng in Aeronautical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Demonstrated experience of use of C++
Demonstrated experience with Excel Macro Programming
Experience with CAD packages such as SolidWorks would be an advantage
Experience of CFD Packages would be an advantage
