BET Awards has made a couple of changes for this year’s award ceremony.

Firstly, the Best International Act has been changed from UK to Europe, and sees the likes of France’s Booba and MHD added to the majority of UK artists nominated: Giggs, Craig David, Emeli Sande, Skepta and Stormzy. It’s best to say that the US are gradually getting used to the UK sound.

Meanwhile, Jorja Smith and Dave have been chosen to be nominated for the Viewer’s Choice for the Best International Act; giving the public the power to choose who they want to win this special public vote award. The UK hopefuls will be competing against the likes of Skip Marley, Remi and South Africa’s Amanda Black

Both the Knowles Sisters are nominated for the Best Female R&B/Soul Artist alongside Khelani, who had a massive European Tour a few months back. Bruno Mars is nominated for the Male equivalent alongside The Weeknd and Chris Brown, who is planning to release his film documentary ‘Welcome to My Life.’

Drake, Chance the Rapper, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar are the nominees for Best Male Hip Hop Artist. So we all have to see how this will turn out! The same can be said for the ladies, as we see Cardi B nominated with Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj. With legend Missy Elliot also making a comeback this year and added to the line-up.

You also have video directors X and Hype Williams in Video Director of the year category with artists Bruno Mars and Beyonce, who have branched their skills into directing alongside Johnathan Lia and Khalil-Joseph for their respective videos ‘Sorry’ and ‘That’s What I Like.’

Denzel Washington, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) and Mahershala Ali are competing for Best Actor. Yara Shahidi and Jaden Smith have been nominated for the Youngstar Award alongside Marsai Martin and Ace Turner.

‘Moonlight’, ‘Get Out’ and ‘Birth of A Nation’ are nominated for Best Movie.

As of this moment, the BET Awards is in full intuition and we’ll give you a quick grasp of the winners after it’s screening in the UK on the 27th June BST.
