Nate Parker has cunningly taken the original Birth Of A Nation title by D.W Griffith depicting white supremacist ideologies and created a film that empowers, informs and celebrates black history in it realist and un-edited form. Making one of the MUST see films when it is release later this year.
Parker’s new perspective on the slave narratives places focus on one of the popular slave rebellions that was started by one of the greatest allies to Black liberation – Nat Turner. creatively Nate Parker has produce / directed / actor in another moving masterpiece.
Actually, there were over 300 slave rebellions that happened across the Americas, but we will stick to Nat’s story
This movie has received a lot of praise at the Sundance Film Festival this year, with three of the largest media outlets wanting to buy it. Finally, Parker signed a deal with Fox Searchlight for $17.5 million!!! The biggest purchase EVER in the history of the festival.

If we want the young generation to value themselves and see their talent as something to continue to grow, they need to see it ON SCREEN. Black actors, screenwriters, directors and producers across the diaspora have a huge platform to redefine the history and image of Black people – past, present and future.
The movie is set to be released in America on October 7th, whilst it UK release date is January 20th 2017 (yes, we UK folks have to wait a little).
If he plays his cards right, he could get loads of film nominations in 2017.
