If you’ve been missing Ryan Reynolds on your screens since “Deadpool”, then fear not. He’s back co-starring alongside Kevin Costner in the upcoming action thriller “Criminal”.
Starring Costner, of “The Bodyguard”, “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves”, and most recently as Clark Kent’s father Jonathan Kent in a “Batman v Superman: Dawn on Justice” cameo, “Criminal” focuses on the death of Ryan Reynolds’ character CIA agent Bill Pope, as his memories, skills and secrets are implanted into Jericho Stewart, played by Costner, in order to complete a mission left incomplete by Pope. Another “Batman V Superman” alumni, “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot, co-stars in the film as Reynolds’ characters wife Jill Pope. Joining Gadot is British megastar Gary Oldman, of “The Dark Knight” trilogy, and recent Tom Nardy lead Russian military thriller “Child 44”. In “Criminal”, Oldman plays Bureau chief Quaker Wells alongside Tommy Lee jones who plays Doctor Franks, in charge of transferring Pope’s memories into Stewart’s mind.
This film boasts a stellar cast, and is the first time that Jones, Oldman and Costner are all working in the same film since 1991’s “JFK”. So, with a cast that some have been waiting 25 years to see reunite, a very intriguing head scratching plot, and direction from Ariel Vromen, director of 2012’s “The Iceman”, it’s safe to say this is going to be one heck of a thrill ride.
“Criminal” hits UK cinemas from April 15 2016.
