Ace Week kicked off Monday 8th May on BBC Radio 1Xtra highlighting a special moment in the career of the long-term, highly respected radio broadcaster DJ Ace. All eyes were on his 10am-1pm slot last week as he welcomed an array of the biggest names from the worlds of Grime, Hip Hop and Wrestling featuring exclusive interviews, mixes and esteemed Live Lounges.
DJ Ace kicked off Ace Week by welcoming the biggest Afrobeats name in the world, WizKid as they sat down for an exclusive interview. This was then followed by a trip to the ring as WWE’s professional Wrestling Tag Team Alpha America joined him in the studio. If this wasn’t enough for Ace Week, Wednesday and Friday saw two hugely anticipated Live Lounges broadcast on BBC 1Xtra. Grime legend Lethal Bizzle kicked off the first Live Lounge on Wednesday bring with him special guest such as Donae’O and Diztortion as he performed tracks such as ‘I Win’ and ‘Celebrate’.
In between the two Live Lounges, Migos took over Ace Week on Thursday talking adlibs, collaborations, and their Top 5 Hip Hop groups (this is worth a watch). The man of the moment now J Hus closed Ace Week on Friday with his Live session in the build of to his debut album ‘Common Sense’ which is out now. With the response so far, this debut will mark an important milestone for the artist.
