Heading straight in with Jessie J‘s second acronym Obsessions of her “R.O.S.E” album is “Real Deal”, which has a go-go-go (influenced by Amerie) mix of Hip Hop and trumpet strings. It could be one of the most uptempo and bright songs from her album. Her second single “Petty” has an alternative-pop feel that’ll be great for the mainstream charts with underlining message that karma is just around the corner. The track is totally on the sound of right now, heard from the likes of Anne-Marie.
“Not My Ex” is an R&B ballad, with gospel undertones. It’s an obsession – but a good one about love. Consistent with vocal riffs and a steady drum beat, Jessie J goes ham with her powerful vocals and small reflexes in the song. The obsession of love continues with the final track “Four Letter Word” with hope for the future of finding the right one and the love of her life. Again, Jessie J takes a little from gospel whilst we love the tender percussion of the piano instrumentals.
Tomorrow is the release of the third part SEX from R.O.S.E.
