Tom Hanks is back in great form in the title role of “Sully“, a film which tells the story of heroic American pilot Chelsey Sullenberger, who successfully made an emergency water landing when his passenger filled aircraft’s engine failed.
All 155 passengers and crew members on board survived, however, Sully is left with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after the incident. Although he is recognised as a National Hero, Sully’s actions are investigated from the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System; stating that he could have landed the plane at one of two local airports, something which he claims would have been impossible due to the failed engines. The National Transportation Safety Board wants to deem Sully with pilot error which would ultimately end his career. This film showcases is perfect thriller style who one mans act or herism leads to his career and personal life being on the line.
Tom Hanks plays the lead role of “Sully”, with “The Dark Knight” and “London Has Fallen” star Aaron Eckharrt joining him as First Officer Jeff Skiles.“The Fifth Estate” and “Mr Holmes” star Laura Linney joins as Sully’s wife Lorraine Sullenberger, as well as “Breaking Bad” Anna Gunn, who plays Dr Elizabeth Davis.
The film is directed by Clint Eastwood, in his first directed film since 2014’s multi award winning hit American Sniper, which starred Bradley Cooper. We wouldn’t mind betting Sully has ‘award season guarantee’ written all over it.
“Sully” hits UK cinemas on the 2nd of December 2016.
