How can one explain two under-age suspects who committed one of the terrifying murders of our time?
If you weren’t aware and unsure of our question, then Channel 4 has decided to bring back from the shadows the case of James Bulger in this commissioned project by October Films. The suspects were ten-years olds and the new film documentary raises the question as to whether the justice system was too lenient on these boys who committed an adult act. The forthcoming documentary brings those who were dealing with the case, including Laurence Lee (Jon Venables’ solicitor), Dominic Lloyd (Robert Thompson’s solicitor), DET SGT Phil Roberts (who conducted the interviews with Thompson), Detective Inspector Jim Fitzsimmons, Richard Henriques, QC (barrister for the prosecution), Home Secretary at the time Lord Michael Howard, former Sun Editor Kelvin MacKenzie, journalist Shelagh Fogarty and author Blake Morrison.
The sixteen-minute special is directed by Matt Smith (‘Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad’).
