The UK Asian Film Festival returns with an annual 20th-year-anniversary celebration and will be celebrating the role and influence in the world of film with the theme of F-Rated content containing to the Asian region.
Taking place between the dates of the 14th - 25th March, the curated festival will be curated content across venues such as Filmhouse, Edinburgh (22nd – 25th March); HOME, Manchester (25th March); Phoenix Cinema, Leicester (15th March extended to 31st March); and various venues across London (14th – 25th March). Celebrated throughout the festival include the likes of Mahira Khan, a renowned Pakistani celebrity who's transcending borders with her high portfolio of roles across films and television. She'll be having Q&A at the Opening Gala of the UK Film Festival on the 14th March. Devashish Makhija’s follows the girl power spirit with her film screening on the 15th called 'Ajji' (Granny) (2017). Other films that'll be showing throughout the festival also include 'Siddhartha' (Conrad Rooks, 1972) starring Shashi Kapoor with a posthuman tribute from Simi Garewal.
There are also films such as 'Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz' (Onir, 2017) taking place in the 17th of March, 'Cake' (Asim Abbasi, 2017) that includes a special presentation from the director Asim Abbasi as well as cast members Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed, Beo Raana Zafar and Adnan Malik, 'Tikli & Laxmi Bomb' (Aditya Kripalani, 2017) and Closing Gala Film of 'Boogie Man' by Andrew Morahan, which will welcome the cast: Kush Khanna, Amy Jackson, Aston Merrygold and Nick Moran on the 24th March at the Courthouse Shoreditch.
