Selene is finally back after a long overdue wait. Almost 5 years after the release of 2012’s” Underworld: Awakening, Selene returns in the fifth instalment of the Underworld franchise, Underworld: Blood Wars.

In the film, Death Dealer Selene is still battling the Lycan clan after the events of the previous film in the franchise, “Underworld: Awakening”. In the latest instalment, Selene is informed by her protégé and Vampire-Corvinus Strain Hybrid, David (played by “Divergent” series star Theo James), that the Lycan – Vampire war is still as strong as ever and that the Lycans have a new leader, Marius, played by Tobias Menzies (“Games of Thrones”, “Outlanders”). Marius wants the blood of Selene and her daughter, so that the Lycans can become an invincible race. David’s father and Vampire Elder Thomas is desperate for Selene to end the war. She must do everything in her power to stop the Lycans once and for all.
Joining the cast for the fifth instalment of the franchise is BBC’s “Sherlock” Irene Adler and Lara Pulver, who plays the female antagonist of the film, Semira. Former “Merlin” star, and more recently the star of A&E’s horror series “Damien”, Bradley James, plays a yet unknown villainous role in the film. Also joining the cast is Trent Garrett, who replaces Scott Speedman in the role of Selene’s lover Michael Corvin.

German director Anna Foerster makes her first debut as being the first female to direct an “Underworld” film.

What’s bound to be another huge success in the series, Underworld: Blood Wars hits UK cinemas on the 13th of January 2017.
