Urban Music Awards is back with its 14th annual ceremony.
This year, we have the likes of M.O, Raleigh Ritchie, Jorja Smith, Zak Abel, Nao, Section Boyz, Stormzy, Skepta, IV ROX, Nao, Giggs and Craig David and many more up for nominations alongside Solange Knowles, Drake, Wiz Kid and Yemi Alade.
Skepta, Laura Mvula, Kano and Michael Kiwanuka are up against each other for Best Album, following all of them being shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, with Skepta finally taking the win. There’s more up for grabs in this category as Craig David, Giggs and Solange Knowles are also added to the official list.
Grime has seen a host of many acts getting nominated with Section Boyz up for three awards Best Male, Best Group and Hip Hop Act. Ghetts has Best Grime nomination alongside Skepta and Stormzy. Abra Cadabra brings double the magic for the Best Single category as two of his singles are nominated. Rude Kid and Not For The Radio are both nominated for the Best Radio Show. Plus Yinka Bokinni, who recently became a presenter for Capital Xtra is also up for an award!
Meanwhile for Best Channel, you have the likes of SBTV, Grime Daily, LinkUp TV and MTV Base.
Following their gig last month, girl group M.O have earned themselves a whopping four nominations, including Best Newcomer alongside London rapper Stefflon-Don, (who’s also up for Best Female) and Raleigh Ritchie.
Izzy Bizu has two nominations for Best Female and R&B, and continues to strive from strength to strength. Also in the Best R&B category are Angel, Mabel and Zak Abel.
Mista Silva, Wizkid, Yemi Alade and Eugy are the final nominees for the Best African Act.
Voting is now available. The winners will be announced on the 26th November at the Porchester Hotel.
