The only award show that celebrated the best of the British Urban Music of Grime had it’s third annual ceremony last night.
You’ve guessed it and soon everyone is going to talk about it – It’s the GRM x KA Drinks Rated Awards. The nominees in the each of the categories had the new generation and the unrecognised diligent artists getting nominated this year. in which, many people should be happy with. Stormzy, Kirx…Hardy Caprio. People that you’re thinking of and changed the music game were all the stars flying high yesterday.
Being on top of the digital age, meant that the viewers had access to gaining live coverage of the award show by gaining the support of Youtube with live streaming, something that was rather very successful last year. If this continues to grow then eyes will be looking into gaining more sponsors and avenues. This year it was Beats by Dre who presented the event.
Lady Sanity becomes the first MC to win the Get Rated Award, the category that celebrates the uprising rap talent in Britain. There’s no denying that we’re seeing another upcoming clan of FeMCs who’ll follow in the footsteps of RoxXxan, Ms Dynamite, Lionness…2017 has seen Ms Banks, Nadia Rose, Flohio, Keedz, Stefflon-Don, Little Simz gaining huge spotlight coverage.

Lethal Bizzle goes into the Rated Hall of Fame with his legacy recognition. The former Mo’ Fire Crew member and entrepreneur started his own empire, Dench and recently launched his own men’s perfume of the same name and had a clever marketing strategy of teaching film Dame Judi Dench on the British slang. This was stream by L.A.D Bible and became a huge success, expanding his business pursuits.

Stormzy has definitely placed the scene forward for his personality to his music and wins the prestigious award of Artist of the Year. His album ‘Gangs, Signs & Prayer’ was a top-notch and his biggest production yet, making a huge shakeup in the British Urban Charts. His tour was a sell-out and was recently on the Jonathan Ross show. He’s also been nominated for a MOBO this year also. This was one of Stormzy’s double wins besides the Video of the Year Award.
